Turks and Caicos Islands Problem with Air Turks & Caicos
Posted: Tue September 5, 2006 09:39 PM UTC
Wondering if anyone else on this board has had a similar experience -

I traveled on Air Turks & Caicos last summer, paid with my m/c at the time, and then last December 23 was charged several hundred dollars by this airline for fuel expense (charge code per my credit card company). I was stunned and have still not gotten any remedy from Air Turks & Caicos.

Has anyone else suffered the same problem and does anyone have any advice on how to get my money back?

kind regards

You should have told your credit card company that you did not authorize the charge and then let AT&C show why they are entitled. Since you did not protest the charge back in December you may have lost your ability to do so. You will have to check the agreement you have with the credit card issuer.

I never heard an airline to charge fuel (or everything else) AFTER the ticket is issued (no charter flights). I use to buy in advance when I'm sure to go as I get better fare and no more expenses like fuel/security/whatsoever surcharges. As far I know the ticket is a sort of contract... and buy a ticket by c/c does not give the right to charge more then stipulated during the transaction.
Karl is right, you should have told your c/c company as soon you noticed it, too late now as three/six months are gone since Xmas. Try and and hope...
