there is no hostel in tblisi, but a little homestay that kinda works as a hostel and is very cheap.
the adress is on my georgia page and here is the link: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/36ade/b26/3/

Claus, I had a 'chat' with someone who stayed there a few months ago...and they highly advised me against staying there. They say the woman who runs it has gotten incredibly greedy, raising prices, charging people to leave luggage overnight, and I think, even charging for toilet paper....I think there are some comments to that effect in some rather recent Tbilisi accomodation tips...

i paid 6 euro´s pr night when i stayed there a year and a half ago and found her quite helpful and friendly.
she does not like loud party kinda people though and she´s not happy with people arriving home after 2 in the mor ning, but i felt it was more because she was worried for my security. the only other cheap alternative is a very run down hotel from what i know, but a friend of mine is returning home from georgia next week after 6 weeks of backpacking there, so he should have fresh info.

exactly.
she´s a bit of an odd person and not everyone get along with her i guess. she´s very much a retired school teacher and really acts like an old teacher. that might be one reason why some people don´t like her too.

If you don't want to risk that, there is another guesthouse a bit outside of T'bilisi's central area (which isn't really a problem since taxis are so cheap). Check my Georgia page
http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/b7446/1a3163/3/ for more info. I was quite satisfied with my stay here. From what I'm told, this is also one of the most economic options in Tbilisi
