Hi
I'll be in Queenstown during the last week of September, and I was wondering how the weather is gonna be there. I've a couple of questions: 1. Is there gonna be snow on the roads as I need to decide to rent a 4X4 or a 2 wheel drive? 2. What is the temperature like so that I pack accordingly? Thanks in advance, for answering my questions. Hi,
Don't know what the weather will be like - is spring, so temperatures may vary a bit, but generally, Jeans, thermals, top and fleece will suffice in winter. As for the car - a 2WD should be fine - just get snow-chains with it if you are concernd - Generally the worst of the weather occurs in August. The roads are graded and gritted pretty quickly in Otago anyway, and if nothing but 4wd will get through they are usually closed at that point anyway. Also, if the weather is too bad you won't want to be out in it!!
