Islamabad How to get a international credit card?
Posted: Mon September 4, 2006 07:24 PM UTC
I am planning on moving to Islamabad and currently live in the states. I plan to pay off and close my credit card accounts I have here because I will be staying in Islamabad for a couple of years, though eventually I will come back to the states to reside there permanently. My question is : Is there such thing as an international credit card which I can have that will allow me to still establish my credit score and history in the states while I use it in Pakistan? I heard Citibank Internatioanl was one I could use, or no? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I deal in mortgages and, obviously, have extensive credit bureau knowledge. I have never seen an "international" credit card that maintains your credit score in America that is not registered in America.

Best bet, as far as I can suggest, is to keep one or two US credit cards and have the bills mailed to your residence in Islamabad or pay them via internet banking. This will maiantain you US credit score.

Thanks for replying back Roily. My husband actually helped me out because he already knew how, I just never thought to ask him. I guess I asked the question incorrectly. He told me that since he will still be in the states I will have a credit card that I will use in PK as well, from here of course and he will just pay the bill every month...I guess I had it all wrong..thanks anyway.

Hi, I am traveling in/out of Pakistan all the time. I use my cards from different countries in Pakistan and most of the times I pay through internet banking. Citi bank and other major banks have this system. Now I am dealing with the Citi Bank Singapore, so I am sure about the cards from US. Please check with your Bank.
