San José Do we jus tstay in SanHose or is there a beach as well that is good for value?

Hello:

My partner and I are looking to visit Costa Rica and have heard that it is gay positive.

Not sure how to arrange a good flight at a decent price or how to sort out a good hotel in the Costa Rica? I have heard of Colors? Is it good value. I like a nice hotel bu t do not want to waste all the money on a hotel either.

My partner is older so prefer not to have 8000 steps unless there is an elevator as well.

Not sure if how to find a good place in the core, or how difficult, it would be to then spend a couple of days at the ocean?

Are there gay positive places in Costa Rica?

We are also looking at Mexico or Ft Lauderdale.

Really would like your help please, as have never boooked a trip before on our own like this.

A little lost here :)

Manuel Antonio is pretty gay friendly. Also checkout www.bananaazul.com for another gay friendly B&B in Puerto Viejo

According to Lonely Planet, you should check www.gaycostarica.com as well as www.cipacdh.org. Also, Tiquicia Travel (www.tiquiciatravel.com) can make travel plans at gay friendly hotels in CR.

Costa Rica is definately an open minded culture, but it still has a long way to go. I would recommend heading to Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific coast. It´s definately the most gay friendly part of the country, and even has gay only hotels. If you stay in San Jose, you will be wasting your trip, the city is ok, nothing spectacular. Have a look at Villa Roca in Manuel Antonio.

San Jose is not a destination as much as a starting point. If you head down to Manuel Antonio don't forget to stop at the Tarcoles Bridge and check out the Crocs.....sometimes you can catch the tour boats feeding them - INSANE! As for the gay aspect..Ticans are very laid back and open minded. I think you will have an excellent time there! Have fun!!
