Does anyone know how to best get to one of the mountain top hotels without signing up for an entire tour? if i just book one of the mountain top hotels online, can i do a combination of bus or minivan to the bottom of the mountain and then take the cable car? or can i hire a taxi directly to the mountain top hotel? thanks!

There are several mountain top hotels in Huangshan. If you want to book one of the hotels online, I think the best way is to hire a taxi directly to the hotel which you booked.

I might be wrong but I don't hink you can get to the top hotels by taxi. The only way is the cable car. I

You definitely cannot take a taxi to any of the hotels located at the summit of Huangshan, and you'll need to walk a fair bit even if you take the cable car.
