| Zhuhai | Where's Lotus Street? Posted: Mon August 28, 2006 03:18 PM UTC
I got useful information from this forum before going to Zhu Hai last week. I only had half a day shopping at the underground shopping center near the boarder. I might go there again next month and would like to know:
(1) How to get to Lotus Street from the underground shooping center I mentioned. Someone in the forum said to walk straight from the border; I don't speak English and want to be sure I know where I'm going. (2) Where can I get a street map in English? Thanks |

If you want to get a street map in English, you can go to a newspaper booth. There always have street map with Chinese and English both.

This area is very easy going but be very careful of your property. I had a camera stolen whilst I was distracted by a mobile phone call.
The coffee shops in this street are greatand the whole area is good but it is best if there are two of you so you can keep an eye out. The Chinese will not tell you that you are being robbed but they will tell you afterwards that you have been. This is because robbers work in groups and if you resist them they will have a backup lurking somewhere nearby to assist them. This is not to say this is a regular occurence because it isn't just be cautious.

Thank you all for your helpful information. I forgot to ask what shops on Lotus street are like compared to the ones in underground complex, but canoe50 and chinamonty kindly gave me the insight. Next time I go to Zhu Hai, I'll grap a street map, watch my pocket and enjoy more shopping.
