where and when shall i reserve a trip to halong? when i am in vietnam or before i get there? thanks

Hi,

The trip is very easily bookable in Hanoi. Don't make a reservation against huge prices. It's cheap in Vietnam (5 years ago we went for 30 USD per person for transport, the boat and 2 nights hotel)

No problem to book when you get here, and much cheaper than booking via the net. The last post mentioned one day on boat and two in hotel. Much quicker to get there now and it's a two day trip, sleeping on the boat. Lots of options depending on your budget.

sure you can easily book a tour when u are in Vietnam! Just be careful don't fall for trap of surprisingly-cheap-compared-with-others

I booked mine with Handspan in advance (sent them an e-mail) and I did not get an impression I could book with them the last day. I did one day private tour (2 persons, USD 86 per person), very much satisfied.
