I plan to visit Yangshuo for one week around the middle of October. I am seeking a nice double, perhaps a suite, in a Chinese style hotel. Best available for the price. Names that I have received so far, include White Lion and Morning Sun Hotel. Any recommendations?

LP China 2002 suggests New Century Hotel (phone 882-9822), a 3 star Chinese style hotel said to have good quality rooms and service.
I haven't been to Yangshuo since 1998 so I hesitate to mention any others.

Well, I went to Yangshuo once every year during the last three year, the last time I went was in February this year. So I suggest Blue Bird. They don't charge much and they provide free Internet. This hotel is right in the West Street, where many travellers stay.

If you don't care staying in a room with only one bed, or you don't care share a room with three bed with someone, the price will be much lower, maybe 10 to 20 RMB. But I can't remember the name of those hotel. But if you're interested or want to know some more details, I would be very glad to ask for you.

how much do you want to spend for thirty qui you can get a very very nice room, then you can spend the rest on beer and exploreing seeing what else is around

I went to Yangshuo just this month. I suggest you a good Chinese style hotel (Lian Hua #1 hotel). The hotel has four floors which is situated at the foot of Lian Hua Hill. If you are lucky to get the third floor you can get a good sight of Li River at the balcony. You can enjoy the best scenery especially in the early morning. There are only two hotels serving this good vision. The other is Di Du Hotel which is a four star one. But if you have learned a little Chinese and can communicate with people. I suggest you to live in Lian Hua #1 hotel. The boss of the hotel can always give you some advices on travel. They are the local people. The rent is RMB120/day with free internet (the room with balcony). The rent is cheaper without the balcony.
If you go there on the weekend, the room with balcony might not be available coz many people go on vacation during the weekend.

I think YangLiPing Hotel may be helpful, I lived there once, It is a family hotel and very clean. what is more important is that you can know much chinese culture there for the boss is very kind.
