Luang Prabang Travel Forum

Hello,
I will be travelling to Luang Prabang and would like to see the city on bike. Has anyone done this recently and can provide me with some info on where to hire a bicycle (and cost) and potentional routes while there.

Most places charge only U$1 per day for one-speeds which should suffice since the town is not particularly hilly unless you're wanting to go up Phousi Hill. Fancier bikes can be rented via the multiple 'adventure travel' agencies mainly located on mainstreet or along the street fronting the Mekong within the peninsula.

I have pictures and a tip about hiring bicycles in LP - cost $1 as said, and usually come with a free bottle of water! Easy to find - just walk along to the Mekong side of town, which is the most scenic, and there are a few places hiring them. The town is quite small, and no need to investigate routes per se.

If you walk along the river, you'll be inundated by offers for boat trips. Just judge by the standard of the boat! We booked a boat for ourselves, and much better. Or - you can go to one of the shop in the main street that book daytrips.
