Recently, in the travel forum someone asked a question about where they could take a nearby spa holiday vacation, and find a little "night-time action". While I didn't go into details about night life, the question was also answered by another VTer who said that 33-year-old person asking the question should forget spa holidays altogether, because they were really only for "old people" (pensioners). And that made me start to wonder if spa holidays are really only attractive for the 50+ crowd.

If you are under 50 years of age, would you consider taking a spa holiday/vacation, or as they put it these days, a sports/wellness holiday/vacation, or do you think its only something for the retired folks?

I would love to go on a Spa holiday; I suppose the spa you go to depends on what the age group is. Hubby and I are dreaming of going to this spa (and we are waaaay under 50):

It's considered one of the best spas in the world. Lots of yoga, relaxing,spa treatments plus hiking and mountain biking.

It wouldn't appeal to me (i'm 31). But I think it's understandable for people to go for that sort of thing whatever the age.
For some reason I don't feel like I have had a proper holiday unless I come back exhausted.

I went on a wellness holiday with one of my friends, a few years ago. And we are both way under 50! :)

But it's true that we were younger than the other people around us. It was a different kind of holiday than what we were used to, but it was nice to have a very relaxing holiday for once... I wouldn't do that every year though!

I'm 27, and getting massages and being pampered for 3or 4 days DOES appeal to me! Not the sort of holiday that I would choose these days, but maybe for a long weekend out of the city.

Spa vacations include restoration of body & soul and can include luxurious healing therapies. Why would that type of vacation be exclusively for those over 50 who are 'pensioners?' Dollar for dollar a spa vacation can be no more expensive than a family theme park vacation or an extended vacation at an upscale hotel.

We all have sports injuries or illnesses that require therapy and a spa vacation is an important consideration for renewal and regeneration.

I think it's a matter of personal preference, not age. Even when I was in my 20s, a spa vacation would not have appealed to me.

Me too, I would LOVE to go on a spa holiday! Be pampered and stuff... oh my, if only I had the finances to do it... btw I am 34 :)

I wouldn't want to spend a real long holiday at a spa resort as I prefer to explore places and see a lot but for a long weekend there's nothing better. Who doesn't enjoy being pampered. It's perfect for a girls weekend out but I do agree it's more a matter of personal interest than age.

I, too, agree it's more a matter of personal interest rather than age. You should do what makes you happy and worry not about age. I've never taken a spa holiday but would definately enjoy it for a weekend or a few days.

I love spas and spending time in them. best thing for tired mind, body and spirit. I would not classify it as vacation/holiday. just good pampering. Do not agree that it is for the over 50s.

I am 50 and have no desire for that kind of vacation!

For my 60th birthday, I've just booked to go to Bad Krozingen for the Spas, been going for years now.

I'm not 50 yet but I would love to end any vacation with an overnight stay at a spa for pampering.I want the works!!!

Spa Holiday/Vacations are wonderful! At any age. Rejuvenating not only for the body but the mind, spirit and soul as well. Best taken with bestfriends or 'Ya Ya Sisterhood'! ;o)
