| Cuzco | Booking a tour from Cuzco or from your own country? Posted: Fri August 25, 2006 06:14 AM UTC
I am heading to Cuzco on Oct. 14th. I would really like to do the inca trail and see the Amazon forest. Should I book once there or it is better to book before I go? (I suspect the Inca trail will sell out soon) The one drawback when you book from your own country is you run the chance to overpay for services.
A second question: Is there any good value alternative to the Amazone forest? Any recommendation for companies that goes to Machu Picchu and ones to avoid? Thanks. Kati |

If you are interesting in visit the rain forest, your choice is peru , but why???
the vegetation (flora) and animals (fauna) is the most rich in the region. you can see a lot of birds (if you are a birdwatcher, you gonna love this). The rainforest in Peru is almost untouchable (virgen). You can visit the protected areas like MANU in cusco and madre de dios, PACAYA SAMIRIA, Bahuaja-Sonene, AND MORE.... Exist a lot lodges of different prices and characteristic and prices . Here you can a little information of a very good company in the rain forest on Peru, is rainforest expedition in the amazone. mmmmmm.....And a good alternative to visit in the amazon forest is the Pacaya Samiria. Peru is the second country with greater number of species of birds in the world? Counting only endemic species, Peru is first. More new species have been described in Peru in the last 30 years that in any other country of the world, with approximately 2 new species described per year in average.
