We must leave an Avis rental car at Avis' downtown Colmar office, 8 Route de Strasbourg, on a Saturday morning in late September. Mappy and Mapquest disagree on the location of this address. One shows it at the airport; the other shows it farther south. In either case, will we be able to get a local bus there to return to the center city? Or is it within 2 or 3 kilometers, so we can walk? Thanks for any help.

According to Mappy, 8 Route de Strasbourg is about 2.5 miles (3.64 km) to Centre Ville, Colmar. If you have luggage, you might prefer a bus or taxi. Check with Avis and see where the nearest bus stop is or ask if they have a shuttle service to your hotel.

You can get directions by typing in the address as your starting point and Centre Ville, Colmar as the destination. You'll get a drop-down box and Centre Ville is your third choice. They will give you written directions and a little map.

I've never had much luck with MapQuest. Your other choice would be http://www.viamichelin.com and they are also excellent.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I've also found, by checking Colmar's bus service's Web site, that a bus line runs very near to 8 route de Strasbourg, and that the line operates on Saturday mornings. We won't have any luggage (having arrived and checked in at our hotel the previous night).
