I am traveling to Nicaragua from Costa Rica. I want to start in Leon. Can anyone give me suggestions on places to stay that are safe and cheap. I am going around the 8th of october. The other places I am going are Granada and Isla ometepe so if any one has any sugguestions on places to stay or things to see that would be great!

Hi,
I'm yet in Leon and staying at the Hostel Ivana. A private room with private bathroom is around 7 dollars, if you are looking for a more lively spot try the hostel via via (dorm room about 4 dollars). In Granada the hostel Oasis is really nice, there is a small pool in the backyard. Regards, Dirk

The best places are family homes, there are severals good families that offer bed and breakfast in their beutifull homes and you will be paying equal or less than a hotel and you will feel safer, look for casa de huepedes.or Student Houses they got a very prestigius Medical School in Leon and you will see a lot international Med students.Good Luck
