I need to go to Lahore next week and i am a little worried about the warnings put on the embassy websites!

I am white and look like i am from the west.

Whats it really like over there?

It's the outcome of the media illusions and the people abraod thing that all over Pakistan whther tribal belt or the major cities Like Lahore, Peshawar're full of Talibans or other extremists elements.

I'm alo going to Lahore tomorrow for an official meeting and I've got nice memories with this city.

Pakistan's cultural capital with its enchantring Mughal architecture and lush green gardens.

You're not the only white foreigner who're going to travel there as I was in the north Paskistan for 3 weeks and I met many travellers in groups, couples, individuals in Gilgit, Karimabad, Chitral etc. and it's absolutely safe here.

Offcourse Lahore is a safe city.....I am a filmaker and i use to make documentaries,i am telling this because lots of overseas people are coming here these days........Three Canadians wee with me last week........
So i guess its a safe place don't get confused......

After making a day trip in Lahore not I've got back to Islambad, weather's better not very hot and it's cloudy.

I love the old city with its walls and the life wihich thrives there.
It's alos known as the city of saints due to the shrines of the saints who came in past here to preach Islam.

i hope that now its more clear to you and do not worry about security as i mentioned in my reply that please do not listen,
-to people who do not physically travel to pakistan and just see the media and comments,
-do not beleive on media,

always listen and discuss with traveller who visit pakistan this year or the hitchhiker's who travelled to pakistan and ask them about pakistani hospitality... they will give you the answer's which based on reallity....

further you can visit the pages of "imran the tracker" and my page "tabrez603" and all other people who lived in pakistan from the web site "www.hospitalityclub.org". you will go to read the comments of the foreigners who lived with us and we ahelp/accomodate them at our best.....

recently the one hitchhiker has just left to islamabad and he lived at my home for 5 night as guest and now i am waiting a couple to receive in lahore they are travelling on their individual motorbikes and now they are in swat vally (madyan). i already host them for 4 nights in my home and then they move to north of pakistan and then again they will be in lahore with me for couple of nights and then move to india......

SO BOTTOM LINE IS PLEASE DO NOT WORRY ALL PAKISTAN IS VERY HOSPITABLE AND WE HAVE TO RESPECT EACH OTHER AND CAREFULL JUST TO USE COMMON SENSE.....hope it will work.....Tabrez

PS: to imran the tracker.....i missed you in lahore , please next time when you have a plan to come to lahore, please do let me know.....may be we have a chat...thanks..

Just a general advise Nathan: Rather than believing what embassy websites say, I'd stick to the opinion of VTers if I was you. :)

There is a saying in Pakistan in Punjabi language: "Jinnai Lahore nahi waikhia o jammeya nahi" which means something like "If you haven't seen Lahore, you are not even born yet." :)

So go and get born. ;)
