Minorca Island Minorca - end Sept? Valentin Star?
Posted: Tue August 22, 2006 03:38 PM UTC
Hi we can only do a week away - end of September and wondered to try Minorca as we have heard it is pretty, we want some nice weather (not sure what it is like end of Sept) we have looked but maybe others may know more..

We want a nice hotel, with good facilities, not too many kids & we are both Vegetarian so with a good selection for meals in eve as prob will do H/B

We have been quoted for quite a few hotels and one that comes up with a good price is the Valentin Star in Caln'Bosch (not spelt right i know!)anyone been? is it nice?

If not can anyone recommened another place/hotel/resort.

Thanks so much - i appreciate your time,
Jane (feag)

September usually is a perfect month as it's staill warm and there is not so crowded (but with this crazy weather nowadays, who knows?)

I stayed in a amazing place called "Casa Alberti", part of an old mansion in Maó. It's not the typical hotel... so may not be your thing, but IMO is far much better than any hotel for a fraction of the price. It's in the town centre, so maybe you prefer to be right on the beach. However, being in towm you'll have more choices for eating. Cannot remeber any especific Vegetarian place indeed.

You'll find contact details and other tips on my Minorca VT page. You may have a great vacation, it's a wonderful place.

Thanks so much for your reply & ive just had a quick look through your pages - how interesting - i will endeavour to read properly later on..

The place you stayed in Menorca looks very different and I would like to stay there one time, but for now we do want a pool based chill out holiday but then saying that, I do like to explore once there so who knows?!

Thanks so much & i love the boat photo!

I lived in Madrid for one month many years ago & have visited your hometown of Barcelona too - both great cities.

Bye for now Jane :-)

Just returned from 2 lovely weeks in menorca staying in torret, very small village near st lluis, nr mahon. Went to Caln Bosch to catch a boat up the coast, would not relly recommned staying there, very man made/touristy. This may be your thing eng breakfast and mexican/curry rest's.
Menorca very pretty and green, cala mesquida lovely and lovely coves son saura and cala turqueta. we stayed in beautiful villa but our contact in menorca was a really helpful lady called Sandy, she ran a beautiful B&B,Called Mandrakia, with a lovley pool and facilities from her home nr St Lluis, nearest beach 15 min walk. , she was great and the house/garden/pool really lovely, would usually recommend b& b but i thought it was a bit special for chilling out, might have to check if kids staying but would imagine in sep would be ok. web site is mandrakia.com, strange site because you cant see the accommodation, but it was really good quality
hope some of this info is helpful, have a great time

Hi Jane,

Perhaps this answer will be too late for you but we have just come back from the Valentin Star and think it is a wonderful hotel, very clean and well kept. Food quite delicious and plenty of assortment. My husband is a vegetarian and ate quite well. Our rep did say if you have any special diets to let them know. He didn't but still ate quite an assortment. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday wherever you end up? :))

Best wishes,

Val
