Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Liechtenstein friedrichshafen - vaduz
Posted: Mon August 21, 2006 02:38 PM UTC
Hello i am flying into friedrichshafen airport from the UK and was wondering could someone provide me with train information as to how to get onto vaduz.

I have heard that it is possible to get a train to either Buchs or Feldkirch and then a bus onto vaduz (i believe there is no train station in vaduz - is there one in the whole of liechtenstein ? - excuse my ignorance). Is there a better/cheaper/more direct option ?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide

No, there is no more direct options. A big lake and a few mountains in the way for too many options...
There is one (1) train station in Liechtenstein called Schaan-Vaduz where the local trains from Buchs to Feldkirch stop. But it is not convenient to get to Vaduz itself. The bus from Buchs is shorter and more direct.
Have a look at www.sbb.ch

hi
I have heard that there is also a bus shuttle from fridedrichshafen to feldkirch but it does not go too often :(
the best way to go (i mean the cheapest one) is by train friedrichshafen-lindau (germany-austria border) lindau-feldkirch (austria-liechtenstein border) and there from the train station you can go by the city bus (there are direct buses to vaduz or you have to change it in schaan).
the trip has many changes so it is inconvenient if you carry a lot of luggage but buses and trains starting from lindau are connected so you do not have to wait.
i have travelled like this myself and the longest i had to wait in friedrichshafen airport to get to the center of town from where one can catch the train to lindau :)
hope that it helps
good luck and have fun

not the fastest but surely the nicest route from Friedrichshafen to Liechtenstein is to get to the port station (Friedrichshafen Hafen) and get a boat to Rorschach. From there you can get a direct train to Buchs. I think the trains from the airport go to the port station directly, but I'm not sure. If you don't have too much luggage, the port is 20 min walking from the main station (Friedrichshafen Stadt).

How long does it take to get from friedrichshafen to vaduz and vica versa?

We have a flight from friedrichshafen at 10.10 therefore we need to get there for 9am and we are staying in Vaduz. Do you think this is possible?
