technically, you can bring your handphone to myanmar... if found by customs, they will confiscate it... but they never ask or check for handphones at the airport... but why do you want to bring in your handphone and take the risk of it being confisticated when you cannot use it in myanmar... regards.chia

well... I'm joining the "wish to know" queue... though I can hardly believe that mobile phones are confiscated in myanmar.
but since I always keep my mobile with me to stay in contact with friends, familiy and the like - and this time plan to visit myanmar: has anyone heard of that?

Never heard of mobiles being confiscated in Myanmar... ?
You'll see sveral locals especially in Yangon using them. There is no point for confiscation: the myanmar cellphone company doesn't roam with any foreign operator. The only use my mobile provided, when in myanmar, was the alarm/clock function. In every hotel you call make long distance calls using their telephones.

when i was at the airport they asked me if i had a phone. I was told that if you have a phone you can leave it there at the airport and pick it up when you're leaving (if it's still there....). I wouldn't recommend taking a mobile phone to Myanmar. If you want to keep in contact with family/friends, use email instead.
