| Vancouver Island | Oct/Nov travel to Vancouver Island Posted: Wed August 16, 2006 05:41 PM UTC
I have an opportunity to visit VI after a meeting in the city. What sort of weather should I expect at the end of October? Could someone suggest an inexpensive place to stay for a single traveller on a careful budget for a few days.I am interested in the Pacific Rim Park and accessbility to other natural areas. I'm betting it's too wet to camp?
Thanks for any help. |

i believe there is a hostel in tofino. i'd be prepared for rain and chilly days. still beautiful. you may get a good rate at a hotel as this is sort of "off season".

I'd probably suggest staying at the Whaler's Point hostel. As far as hostels go, it really looks quite luxurious! You could certainly camp within the Pacific Rim National Park, and people will still be camping in October. The west coast of Vancouver Island is always relatively wet, as it's a rainforest zone, so the wetness won't stop people from camping whenever they visit. However, if you don't have the appropriate waterproof tent or tarp set up, it might be a bit damp and uncomfortable for you. At least by October though, the provincial campfire ban will have been lifted, so you'd be able to make a wonderful campfire... and there's nothing better than the smell of a campfire on the west coast of the island! :)
Another thing worth looking into is the Bella Pacific Campgrounds. They're the alternate to the campgrounds at the Pacific Rim National Park. They're just south of Tofino, on Mackenzie Beach.
