| Positano | RE: easiest transport Posted: Wed August 16, 2006 03:39 AM UTC Apart from the bus - Paying a cheap fare, You (could) hire a car just for one day if you want to get to Positano quicker, or the last preference could be to catch the train, Most of Italy's towns have train station, and i suppose Positano might... Good Luck!

Hi - a car with driver from Rome to Positano is very expensive. There are two train routes but there is no train station in Positano, so each requires a bus at the end. One = train to Naples, switch to the local circumvesuviano train line right next door to Sorrento, and then a SITA but to Positano. 2 = train to Salerno, SITA bus to Positano requires a change of busses in Amalfi along the way.

You can also take the train from Rome to Naples, then take a hydrofoil or ferry from there to Positano. According to some of the others here on this site, this is much nicer and just as cheap.
