Hi. I live sort of close to Nuremberg (and have to go there a lot, which I always do by train). I have also a friend in Munich, who I was going to visit by train, but then ended up going there by car. So unfortunately I can't give you any details, but I think the only real option to get from Munich to Nuremberg is by train. The distance is about 200km's..by car it takes usually about 2 hours or a little less..however if you take the train, you have 2 options Regionalbahn or Regionalexpress (which is the regular fee) or ICE (a fast train). Train rides aren't exactly cheap in germany, I'm afraid, but if you take the regular fee (second class of course) you should get there in up to 4 hours...
You should go to the website www.bahn.de and click on 'english' at the left upper part of the page. I hope you can handle the rest on your own, b/c i have to catch a bus now. But..keep in mind..if it says RE (Regionalexpress) and RB (Regionalbahn) and you have an option you should always go for Regionalexpress, b/c those are usually the more comfortable trains (and the faster ones). Sitting in a Regionalbahn isn't exactly comfortable...but the Regionalexpress trains are usually fairly comfortable (I think this is only true if you travel before late in the afternoon, but as a rule of thumb the trains that go faster usually are the more comfortable (because newer) ones, too)

Check trains at www.bahn.de. Click on "International Guests" for the English version.Type in MuEnchen and NuErnberg to get results, the two dots on the u mean ue.
You see "means of transport", and you can decide if you want local trains only or the fast ones.

christine, you are very helpful, but also you under estimating the DB site, it is working very well with umlauts or not. It understands Munich as well as Munchen and Muenchen and will display results as München & Munich :-)
Very nice in did.

Good old DB! I guess it does work with the bigger cities, without an Umlaut I mean.

Zdrastuy Elena,
The München Airport to the Nürnberg main trail station would be around 2.5 hours to 4.5 hours, depending on transfers, and would cost less than 50 Euros one way. Lufthansa has around four direct daily flights from München to Nürnberg which take less than one hour, but costs several times more. One last option that comes to mind (if you haven´t yet purchased your tickets) would be to look into the direct Kiev-Nürnberg flights on KLM. Gute Reise! Seppi
