| Nuweiba` | Commercial airlines to Taba? Posted: Mon August 14, 2006 12:14 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm planning to meet up with a group in Nuweiba, but need to make my own air travel arrangements. Could someone help me with what commercial airlines fly into Taba? Seems I can only find charter flights from Europe... I will be coming from Saudi Arabia, so one of the middle east based airlines would likely have better flights for me. Thanks! |

At present there are only charter flights to Taba from the UK, Germany, Czech Republic and sometimes Russia with no international scheduled services. However, you should be able to find flights to Sharm el Sheikh from Saudi Arabia and then its easy enough to get a transfer up the coast to Nuweiba. Nuweiba is 160 km north of Sharm Airport whilst being 85 km south of Taba Airport.

Thanks for the quick answer. I suppose my next question is what are the options for a single female travelling alone to get from Sharm to Nuweiba? Reliability and safety are more important to me than cost savings.

Safest way is probably by bus
Least reliable way is probably by... bus Buses go from the East Delta bus station I think three times a day to Dahab, Nuweiba and then on to Taba. The journey time by bus will be over 3 hours and the cost will be about LE 20 ( LE 5.75 to one US dollar ). You would still need to get a taxi from the airport to the bus station wasting more time and money - and thats if you arrive early enough to catch the last bus. Best way is to get a taxi from the airport. The journey time then will be less than 2 hours but may cost anywhere between LE 350 - 550. If you know where you are staying ask the hotel to send you a car - this way you are sure that someone will be there to meet you and usually you will get a better price and a price that you are aware of before you arrive. The only danger along the way is the minimal risk of trafic accidents along the way and so if you are in a bus you are less likely of being injured. The journey is a beautiful drive through winding valleys. If at night time you might see foxes along the way and, if you are really, lucky a large mountain gazelle. Check out the Trip Advisor hotel reviews for hotels in Nuweiba.

Thanks so much for your complete and informative reply. When it comes closer to the time for the trip, I'll contact the hotel for their options.
Unfortunately, I am not involved with the planning for this group trip, and most unfortunately we are not staying at your hotel. However, I am also seeing this trip as a scouting expedition to plan future trips for our local dive club, so I'll be sure to come by your place and check it out as it looks wonderful and you are obviously a caring and concerned host for your guests.
