| Liechtenstein | Zurich Airport to Triesen, Liechtenstein Posted: Mon August 14, 2006 10:44 AM UTC
Hey guys.
I am writing to check if you can take some time out to provide me with information / instructions on the (fastest and/or cheapest) transportation alternatives (ex. train, bus, etc.) I can take for my transfer from Zurich airport to Hotel Meierhof (located in Fam. Elke und Roland Kindle, FL-9495 Triesen Liechtenstein). For your interest, I am scheduled to arrive in Zurich, Switzerland on August 31, 2006 to attend some business activities and I am set to stay at Meierhof hotel during these times. I will greatly appreciate any kind assistance you can extend to me as I prepare and plan for my first trip to Switzerland. Hear back from you soon and good day! Cheers, Louie |

For train and bus schedules, check
www.sbb.ch Best you take the train to Buchs/SG, then the bus across the Rhine to Liechtenstein.

The taxi would take a little more than an hour and cost some CHF 350 (my personal estimate). As against about CHF 50 by train.

There is at least one train connection every hour from Zurich-Airport (Zurich-Flughafen) to Buchs SG that trquires a change of trains at Zurich-Hauptnahnhof (Central Station) as well as in Sargans. Trains leave normally (verify timetable on www.sbb.ch ) at 13 minutes past each hour and will reach Buchs at 50 minutes past the following hour. The single fare is CHF 36 in 3nd class or 60.00. in 1st class. No seat reservatiopn is required/possible.
The bus leaves from Buchs station about every 20 minutes during weekedays and takes 26 minutes in average. Who could ask for more? Enjoy the trip.

thanks for the replies.
cyz68 i got some info also. this might serve as good reference for you as well. see text from an email i received. "The fastes way to go to Triesen Meierhof is travel by train from Zurich Airport to Sargans and taking there the bus to Triesen. Caused by your arrivaltime the easiest way is by taking the train (trainstation in underground of airport-terminal) to Zurich mainstation. (Trains every 30 min or less). In mainstation you have to change. From Zurich Mainstation you will have a train to Sargans every hour at minute .12 and .37. From Sargans station you can take the Liechtenstein Bus N°1 in direction of Trübbach, Balzers, Vaduz every hour to minute .09 or .29 and .49 (every 20 minutes). This Bus is going to Triesen, too. Best way is, you leave the bus at station "Vaduz Au", change streetside and take the bus N°10 in direction of Triesenberg/Malbun some minutes later. Leave the bus N°10 at station "Triesen Meierhof" straight vis-à-vis of the Hotel. Ask the driver for telling you, when you must leave, because stations won't signalized inside the bus (it's coming during winter this year). All drivers should be able to speak english. Due to a missing arrivaltime in your request we couldn't inform you more detaillized. So we show you a routing-example at the end of this mail, that may help understand." The journey-example: Zurich Airport dep. 09h13 train IC 716 (intercity) Zurich Mainstation arr. 09h23 Zurich Mainstation dep. 09h37 train IC 565 (intercity) Sargans station arr. 10h32 Sargans station dep. 10h49 Bus N°1 Vaduz Au arr. 11h15 Vaduz Au dep. 11h21 Bus N°10 Triesen Meierhof arr. 11h23

When i asked for the rates here's what i got:
"For the train-connection between Zurich Airport and Sargans you have to pay the following: 1st class 2nd class Single-Ticket: 53,- CHF 32,- CHF Return-Ticket: 106,- CHF 64,- CHF all prices are per person The bus from Sargans to Vaduz costs about 3,60 CHF (Single-Ticket). Our bus-fares are devided by Zones. You have to pay for 3 Zones to go from Sargans to Triesen via Vaduz. During your stay it's recommendable to bye a dayly (about 7,- CHF) or weekly ticket (about 18,- CHF). It's valid in the whole network of Liechtenstein and in fact cheaper then separatly bought single-tickets. If you try the website www.sbb.ch you find in the uper region the follwing shortcuts: fr | it | en There you can change the language. (fr = french, it=italian, en=english) Perhaps it will help more. Printet pocket-timetables, etc. are also availlable at all trainstations. There's a personlazied helpdesk at Zurich Airport, too. A railway-map of Switzerland you will find at http://www.alleuroperail.com/eurorailway-maps/swit for other maps and information try the search-engine www.google.ch" Hope this helps. Cheers!
