Nassau Dining near Atlantis resort

I will be staying at Atlantis in October with my husband and 3 kids. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on reasonable dining near Atlatis. Does anyone know how long a walk from the Marina the Outback Steakhouse is?

The walk to the Outback is quite a hike. Especially with kids. You have to go right across the bridge and it's a fair walk. You can get a really good meal at Anthony's Caribbean Grill which is almost across the street from Atlantis. Also in Hurricane Hole there is a little place where you can get a pretty good breakfast and also light meals. That is also across from Atlantis.

October is a great time to go, we went there last year in October and it was great not alot of people. We found Murrays deli to be very good. It is a part of Atlantis near the marina. Not that expensive my wife and had diner there for under $40 if I remember right. I just made this page in google with a good view of where everything is. I posted it in the tip section yesterday but it is not listed yet.

Hi,

I have visited Nassau often and the Outback would actually be quite a walk from Atlantis as you would have to walk over the bridge and then some more to get to the restaurant. One restaurant that we love which has excellent food is the Columbus Tavern. It is definitely reasonable compared to the other restaurants around. A lot cheaper than what you will find in and around Atlantis.

What we actually did when we stayed at Atlantis was take the free shuttle that goes to the other end of Paradise Island where they drop people off at the Ocean Club golf course and asked the driver if he could drop us off at Columbus Tavern on the way. He dropped us off at the top of a short hill. The restaurant is right at the bottom and on the waterfront which was beautiful. Kind of a hidden treasure. They are doing construction right now in front of the restaurant, but only during the day so at night you are fine. Plus, even during the day, it is not bad as you don't really notice it once you are in the restaurant. If you take a cab, I think I remember it being about $8.

The food is great and the staff is really friendly. Plus it is definitely accommodating to the children. My suggestions are Steak Diane (it's flambed tableside), the Grouper New Providence(not the healthiest but delicious and you are on vacation), fisherman's platter and definitely the Guava Duff desert which is warm and melts in your mouth.

Ok, I think I have written a novel by now. I guess I do like this restaurant :)

Anyway, good luck. You can check out their website at http://www.columbustavernbahamas.com

I personally don't think the pictures do the restaurant justice as it seems prettier when you are there. But definitely good prices for delicious food. Plus the owner is native to Nassau which we found out, and is especially stern when it comes to offering the freshest fish. (don't worry, they have burgers for kids too). Oh and their conch fritters are addictive so be careful.

Couldn't agree with you more. We have eaten there too and I had actually forgotten Columbus Tavern. Great little place for a meal.
