Restaurants yes, food markets I don't believe so. The Holiday Inn Damai Beach has an excellent restaurant ... and another great one, on the same grounds just 5 minutes walk from the hotel is the Trees restaurant. There are other restaurants in the area too if you are interested.

You could try Buntal fishing village, you have to take a taxi, or get the hotel to arrange a trip there. There's lots of Chinese seafood restaurants there. I can't remember the one we went to, but it's the most "low key" restaurants around and in my opinion has the best value for money.

There are a few restaurants that will take you from the hotel to their restaurants, free transportation. You have to check out with the reception the names of the restaurants.. you can check my Sarawak pages too.: )
