Ko Tao ko tao

My partner & I are going to Hua Hin in September & would like to go to Ko Tao island for 4 days to relax, swim, snorkel, basically just chill. 2 questions:-
1. Which is the easiest way to Ko Tao from Hua Hin?
2. What resort and beach is the best and most chilled, (no loud music). and what beach offers the best snorkelling?

I haven't been there myself yet, but will be heading to Thailand at the end of August. From my research I know that there's an overnight train from Bangkok (via Hua Hin?) to Surat Thani, and then you can catch the ferry across to Koh Tao. There are a few flights that go from Bangkok to Koh Samui, and then a ferry across to Koh Tao but that may be a bit out of your way (Bangkok Air flies to Koh Samui). There are also ferries between Chumphon and Koh Tao and that may be your best bet - probably train from Hua Hin down to Chumphon?

The train has a combination ticket that covers the train, bus, and ferry. I have done this from BKK (hualampong station). Train takes you to Chumphon, then there is a bus transfer from train station to the dock. Then ferry direct to Koh Tao.

I cant remember the price right now...it was either 500 baht or 800 baht. One way.

If you can get this ticket at the Hua Hin station, this is the best way (IMHO).
