Ko Chang Travel Forum

We are planning to go to Koh Chang end of Jan. 2007 for the 1st time. Can anyone recommend the place to stay is kids friendly, with swimming pool, quiet but not far from everything (restaurants, mini shops...).

We will fly from BKK to Trat since we are travelling with kids. How far is from the airport to the pier? Can anyone give me some information if we will take the plane? How to reach the island from the Trat airport? Appreciated any tip for our first visit. Thanks a lot.

for point n°1, i just can tell you that the slope of the beach is soft à White Sand, it is perfect for the children. You can find many services in White Sand and Kai bea (telling machine...) further to the south is it more quiet...

for point n°2, is it easy to reach the pieer from Trat airport (it's take less than 30mm), many mini-bus are waiting for you at the airport (nothing to do)
and they will go strait to the peer.

Try Kacha Resort on Whitesands - has a good reputation for being a friendly place for families with young kids to stay.

Also Paradise Resort on Klong Prao beach is on a good, safe stretch of beach with big pool, play area and has shops etc within easy walking distance.

From Trat Airport take the Bangkok Airways minibus, 300 baht/person to any resort on koh Chang. You dont have to book it in advance, just tell the groundstaff when you get off the plane. (Much cheaper to do this than arrange a transfer through your hotel.) Easy to do and no hassles.

We stayed at Kacha, in january. Nice beach, beautiful pool, child friendly, Mostly European families, and couples. Nice place, and will stay there again.
