Sightseeing around Zilina

Hello, any suggestions for sightseeing in the surroundings of Zilina ?
I mean not Trencin or Martin, but around Zilina.
Interesting places to visit: architecture/history/nature ?
Any suggestions anyone ?

Hi,
I'd recommend a nice visit to Terchová (www.terchova.sk), a small village some 20 km from Žilina. It's the entrance gate to Vrátna valley (www.vratna.sk) and also the birthplace of Slovak national hero Jánošík (Slovak Robin Hood). His statue can be found on the hill near the road to Vrátna. There's also a beautiful wooden bethlehem in the church in Terchová. Vrátna is beautiful for hiking and walks in the nature. Try taking the cabin up to Chleb for a wonderful view.
