I have not been to SPI since I was a child and am hoping to go for a long weekend in September. Any recommendations for a moderately priced place with a pool? It is better to stay on the bay or gulf side?

Howdy,
I think you would probably prefer the Gulf side. Try the Surf Motel. It has a small pool, is right on the beach, and is modestly priced. http://www.10kvacationrentals.com/surfmotel/ Happy trails, Marc

September is the beginning of the low season and is when prices start to drop some of the chains- Sheraton, Holiday Inn- offer buy one night, get one free deals. You can google SPI and find several websites.
