RE: What to do off a cruise ship in Road Town, Tortola in Oct Posted: Sat August 5, 2006 05:10 PM UTC
Get a cab at the harbor. Cane Garden Bay is the most developed beach, and alot of cruise passengers get taken there. Still, it's gorgeous, "most developed" in the BVI's is still very very low key. It would be great for a kid, and it's big enough you can wander away from any cruise crowd. When I was there most cruise passengers where gone by 3:00. There are several good beach bar/restaurants there. We loved the burgers at Big Banana, you sit on a big covered deck and can enjoy the beautiful sunset.
For a quieter place, get the cab to take you to Smuggler's Cove. There's no real official restaurant, but they have some cool throwned-together little beach bars where you can get snacks and drinks. Get the cabbie to pick you up at dinnertime, and you could eat at Coco Plums, a fun place. Check out traveltalkonline for their BVI forum with great restaurant suggestions.
