Playa del Carmen Travel Forum

Hello everyone,
I've finally set my mind to go to Playa del Carmen this first week of September but I was told that it was not ideal because of the huricane season...can anyone tell me what the weather is really like early September ? Is it showers every now and again but mostly sunny or will we have to stay inside all day because of wind/storms....?
Also, can anyone comment on hotel RIU Yucatan...

I was in Playa a few years ago in September and the weather was fantastic...a couple of thunderstorms....but it rains for about half an hour, refreshes everything and in about 10 minutes all the rain has disappeared....But I guess every year is different !! Good luck

It could go either way. As a general rule showers will be of the tropical nature- strong but short in duration, and then sunny again. But if a large tropical depression/hurricane passes through you could have grey skies and rain/drizzle for a few days in a row. But there is no wway of knowing for sure. So far hurricanes have been behaving themselves...
