Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Cheapest way from Melbourne to Alice Springs
Posted: Thu August 3, 2006 02:28 PM UTC
Hi~

I have trouble finding a cheaper to go to Alice Springs~ As I plan to go to Sydney after Alice Springs so I could not buy return ticket. And it seems that taking a coach is much more expensive that plane.

Besides, there are a lot of choices for Safari tour to Uluru and King Canyon and the price varies a lot. So are there any tour really good with a reasonable price??

Thanks a lot~

Try Oz Experience. I took them all up the east and through central Oz. They are a great tour company. So much fun.

From Alice Springs you can also do a Mulgas backpacker trip to Uluru, Kings Canyon etc.
This leaves from Annies Backpackers in Alice, this I can recommend as I have stayed here.
Qantas is the airline that flys into Alice and Uluru...Uluru( Ayres Rock) has an airport.

You'll find that flying and taking the coach are about the same price, so it's more about how much time you've got. You can also take the train to Adelaide and go by coach from there (see my Adelaide page for train info). When I flew from Alice Springs, it wasn't a direct flight, I had a stopover at Sydney.
I went with Outback Safari's on a 3 day trip, the price was good, so was the tourguide, but the food was a bit poor. We complained about it though, so it might have changed.
