Fine brewery tours to recommend

Hi,

I would like to learn more about the famous Ale Beer, so I am looking to do a brewery tour in London. Do you experience any and which one could you recommend?

Cheers from the Swiss Alps.

I don't know about brewery tours but there's a thing called the Dick Whittington Ale Trails that detail several walks around the city stopping off at traditional pubs with real ales.

I got a copy of the map from the Old Thameside Inn which is on the Soutbank near London Bridge.

Youngs Special is a very fine ale (and I speak from years of exeprience here). There brewery is a great place to visit.

Fullers is a London Brewery that does weekday tours. I've never taken one (unfortunately, I'm usually in London on weekends), but if you're interested try this website:

www.fullers.co.uk

If you go, post back and let us know how it was.

Thank you for these useful info, I am tried by the Ram Brewery and its Young's Ales.
I will give you a feedback if I survive the visit and could remember something ;-)

Thanks for the help. The brewery tour was fine and the beer tasting choise great among 7 local brewed specialities.

But hurry up if you want to take part of this tasteful brewery tour included the surprising stables, the last ever will be on September 30th 2006. In fact, brewer and pubs group Young's is to end 400 years of history with the sale of one of the UK's oldest brewing sites. The group is selling its Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, south London, and merge its brewing operations with Charles Wells. The move will lead to at least 90 job losses, and leaves Fullers as the last remaining large-scale brewer in the capital. Under the takeover deal, Young's is moving its brewing operations to Wells' more modern brewery in Bedfordshire :-(
