As mentioned as title, is it possible if I don't wanna join in any tourism agency, neither book hotel in advance?

Since we can only make a short trip(2D1N), it's not good for us to join in the tour agency (most for 3D2N at least). We're supposed to depart from KUL by coach(Putra Bus Terminal) to Kuala Terengganu(KT) overnight of 11th Aug (arrival time:6am around);and back KUL at Sunday 13 Aug.

By the info I got from VT Forum (thanks a lot!), Here comes questions::::

1) From KT bus station to Merang Jetty,we can easily get a cab(RM20/30), isn't it?

2) Can we get Taxi Boat to Redang Island by ourself(like public transport sys), Is it all the boat are pre-arranged by the agency, which means I can't ferry unless I join in an agency? If I can, How much is the ferry fare/person from Merang jetty to Redang Island? (I prefer bringing cash along.)

3) Can we get walk-in accomodation(since at that time not peak days), which is supposed to be cheaper and not need book/deposit in advance? Place like simple chalet etc... since we suppose to be there enjoying the beach not hotel/resort..

For those've been there recently, can you kindly post the Ferry daily schedule, then I can book the bus ticket back to KUL in advance...Thanks...

How about the running of Chalet in the island? Is it easy to get one? How much (by approx.) for 5 persons? let say if I need two-rooms....
