My partner & I are spending a week in Tropea,Italy where I hope to enroll in a language school to brush up my Italian. What else is there to do in the afternoons seing as I will be at school every morning until 13:00?
Any clues on dining out or good places to eat would also be appreciated? Cheers\AB |

Will you have a car during your stay? There are fabulous beaches (in case you're going in the summer) in and around Tropea, my favorite one being in Santa Maria di Ricadi. Pizzo isn't too far away. It's a pretty little city renowned for its Tartufo ice specialty. Worth a visit are the Castello and the Chiesetta di Piedigrotta.
Further away (too far for half day trips) but worth a visit are Scilla (near Reggio di Calabria) and Gerace and Locri at the Ionian Sea. Also the Parco Nazionale dell' Aspromonte is beautiful. Re restaurants: I didn't really find one that stood out, they all serve pretty much the same. The local specialty is red onion and peperoncini, those are all over the place.
