I am traveling to Katowice on business, alone, on a train from Warsaw...I will be arriving during the day of course, but after all the freaky stories posted on this site, I am not sure what to do. I will have a few bags with me, so I will be moving rather slowly. Do you think I need to worry about making it to the taxi stand safely!? I know a couple of people in Katowice, I think I might call one of them to meet me at the train station...not that that would necessarily protect me from getting stabbed by a junkie! But I am not sure if they will be available that day.

Relax, Katowice station is not worse than Warsaw Station.

If they haven't changed now (I was there some years ago), there are very high and long stairs from the station down to the taxis - but for you it isn't that hard as you can go the stairs downstairs. Not too nice with a lot of suitcases to carry upstairs...
