Hi there,

Myself and my friend are going to Tallin in August (15-18). We've already got a nice hotel, any suggestions for nightlife? Also, is there anywhere nearby to soak up the sun? Anything else unusual to do in the daytimes?

Stroomi and Pirita are the two beaches near Tallin city. Both of them are sandy + beautiful. Pirita is more touristy with easier connections with buses, and there are bars + cafes etc, Stroomi doesn`t have such a nice view, you see the factories + the industrial harbours, but it has its own charm.

blackbirdxx, is there more people in Pirita or Stroomi beach?

when I`ve been there (early June) Pirita was more crowded (also because the Yacht harbour is near)

There is a beach that is easily walkable from the town centre (I think it must be Stroomi). From the square where the Sokos Viru hotel is you follow Narva mnt and it's no more than a 15 or 20 minute walk.

Alternatively, the no. 34 bus (from the station under the Viru Keskus centre - next to the Sokos hotel) takes less than 5 mins. I was there last month on a very hot sunny afternoon and it was packed. It isn't quite as pretty as Pirita beach (like they say, you can see too much of the port etc) but on the same day, Pirita beach was quite empty.

However, if you stay on the number 34 bus and get off at the Olympic Centre you will be at Pirita beach in 10 mins - so you could easily try both beaches!
