| Amalfi | Rome-Amalfi, where to stay ? Posted: Fri July 28, 2006 07:33 AM UTC
Hi, I'm planning to drive from Rome to Amalfi in one day, is this too much ? It says 3 hours on Michelin...
Also, which of the small town in the area has a beach ? I've looked at many places but it can't seem to find it... Thanks ! Chuck |

In the peak summer season, it may take a little longer than 3 hours, but that is pretty accurate if you don't hit too much traffic. The beach in Positano is on the lead picture in my Positano page. I believe that (spelling) Maiori and Minore two towns east of Amalfi also have beaches. As long as you have a car, make sure to visit Ravello which is a breathtaking village just a few km inland from Amalfi.

Hello, I think 4-1/2 hours minimum from Rome.
It takes nearly 3 hours from Naples, as I recall. And, driving one's own car (not a bus or shuttle). The luxury hotel where we stayed had a beach (but without sand). I will find the name. It is very expensive now (around $600/nt).
