Nagoya Nagoya Airport

We have a 6 hr. layover in Nagoya, Japan; traveling from Bangkok to the US. Has anyone had experience @ the Nagoya airport (not Narita)? How difficult would it be to visit sights while in Nagoya? How far is the Nagoya castle to/from the airport?

It's about a 30 minute train ride into Nagoya Station and probably another 20-30 minute ride in a taxi to Nagoya Castle. If you don't take too much time reading all the commentaries, etc. you could probably see the exibhits in about an hour and a half, but the whole experience would be hurried.
If you're just looking for something to do you might just want to wander around the vicinity of Nagoya Station- lots of stores.
On the other hand Nagoya airport (Centrair- www.centrair.jp.en) is pracitcally a city in itself, since it opened last year locals go out there to sightsee! You can even get a Japaneses hot bath while watching the planes land and take off! So if you decide that going into town might be too risky timewise there are plenty of activities at the airport to keep you occupied.

Are traveling on a US Passport? If not, check at the link below to see if you will need a visa to enter Japan.
