Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Curaçao Resaurants or All inclusives
Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 08:48 PM UTC
Going to Curacao with my family 18 yr old son and 11 daughter and husband. Should we do all inclusive at the Marriott or can we eat for about the same price as we did in Aruba last year? My husband is picky, he doesn't like a lot of fancy, eclectic dishes with sauces, the simpler the better for him. Also, is there some place I can view menus with prices as i did for Aruba?
Would appreciate any feedback about this or the Marriott in general.
Thanks.

I'm not a Curacao expert having just visited last week. We stayed at the Hilton which is next door to the Marriott. As usual, the hotel restaurants charge alot. Marriott has just one restaurant, Portofino, which is Italian. Unless you have a car there are not many restaurants in this area. There is a very expensive Mediterranean restaurant in the Floris Suites Hotel across from the Marriott and Hilton called Sjalotte. The only other choice and one that we returned to three times is Hook's Hut. It's located next to the Hilton. It's a casual beach restaurant with beach and deck seating, very atmospheric. The food is prepared well, presented nicely, and costs lots less than the hotel restaurants. They offer a variety of choices: chicken, beef, fish, shrimp, salads, etc. http://www.hookshut.com/

Hi. Is there a possibility of all inclusive at the Marriot. I am surprised did not know they had that.
Like a reply you got before there are not that many restaurants around Marriot. The Hooks Hut just behind the Hilton is a good Choice. I you are not into very fancy dishes closeby are some restaurants. Like Gouverneur in Otrabanda which has good food for reasonable prices. There is also a Danny at the Holiday Beach Hotel which is about a 4 min drive. In riffort village there is an Indian restaurant good food at a good price. But you like that cuisine. it serves indian/ asian food.
To compare to aruba indeed the prices tend to be as Aruba. Overall somewhat cheaper I think.
On the Pund side of the town there are some resaurants at the Waterfront arches. Most of them good food including a good italian.

I'm going to recommend Hook's Hut once again. If you don't want to travel to town then this is a very convenient option for you. We were sorry that we put up with the tremendously overpriced, mediocre (at best) food, and lousy service (Aqua only) at the Hilton's two restaurants in the nights before we discovered Hook's Hut. Hook's Hut was a breath of fresh air.
