Hostels and transport Posted: Thu July 20, 2006 11:52 AM UTC
Hi everyone
I am planning to go to Belfast for few days and I need advcice on hostels. I checked hostelworl.com but it only has about few hostels listed with normal prices, other accomodations are far too expensive! So does anyone know any hostel around 20-25 euro per night for double room (for a couple) that you would recommend and is in the city center? Also, I've noticed that it would cost around 40 euro to get there from Dublin with a train, but I can't find any info for buses?
Thanks guys :)

Have had a look at www.hostels.com and it does seem to have some double rooms in Belfast around 25 euro per night (don't know the availability though; you've left it a bit late for private rooms, I think). That is very cheap, imo, so I think you just have to accept that accommodation in the UK and Eire is expensive compared with some other countries.

Try and get the bus to Belfast from Dublin airport, usually every two hours, only £5 one way, you can get connecting busses from Dublin centre every 15 mins or so.

Thank you :) Has anyone ever tried Linen house hostel? It's says it's in this area: Situated in the cathedral quarter, close to St. Anne's Cathedral
Is that a good location? Shops, pubs,...

Kova, I think that this is actually a hotel, its a nice area of Belfast,it has its own bar called the cloth ear, good crowd, mainly at weekends and there are a few other nice bars and restaurants close by. This part of Belfast has old cobble stone streets and developers are hoping it turns in to a mini version of what you find in the Temple Bar area of Dublin

Kova, I agree with NiamhEmer about the aircoach - it is very handy and a good bit cheaper. It leaves you in the centre of Belfast.
When are you coming to Belfast? There are a couple of hostels near where I work and I can check them out on my lunch hour if you like. They are about a 10 min walk to the centre. I don't know about the Linenhall Hostel - I had heard it was not nice but that was a good few years ago and, as NiamhEmer says, it could be a hotel now.
