I would be staying in Ottawa and want to take the steam engine train to Wakefield. Can I book this from my hotel in Ottawa?

I would hesitate to say Yes. You would be wiser to book on-line and know you have a spot than leave it to the last minute. It is a popular tourist attraction and is quite busy.
I've seen the brochures for the excursion....but I don't think you can just call up and get tickets. Hope that helps. Have fun and enjoy the ride...it's a good one.
