Hello VT members and friends,

I will be travelling around Lithuania in August. I have just read in a few guide books that there is a hydrofoil connection between Kaunas and Nida along the Nemunas river.

Does anybody of you have any information about this hydrofoil trip (timetable, fares etc.). Maybe there is even a website???

I guess you're talking about swift-sailing boat that used to carry holidaymakers from Kaunas to Nida :)
I have good news for you :) after suspension of few years this boat will start to run again this August.

There are two boats, named "Aiste" and "Kriste".
Both of them are hydrofoil, picking up speed up to 70 km/h, they can take 52-58 passengers, there's a summer deck, bar (where you can get appetizers, soft and alco drinks), etc.

Predicted departure from Kaunas will be at 8 am, arrival to Nida at 12 pm;
departure from Nida at 3:30 pm, arrival to Kaunas at 8 pm (this way it takes a bit longer, because boat is going upstream :)

Tickets: 99 Lt (adults) and 48 Lt (children under 6 y.o.)
Tickets shall be booked in advanced.

But all this data might be changed until August.
