Driving in Tijuana, from San Diego to Ensenada can be a bit confusing but definately the way I'd choose to go to Ensenada. If you feel confident driving, then that's the way I'd suggest. The views along the toll road are spectacular in some areas. However, if you are a nervous driver than I'd suggest taking the bus or a bus tour, no sense in being stressed out while vacationing.

The rules of the road in Mexico are not quite as orderly as in the USA, but for the most part not that difficult to deal with.

Hope this helps,
Linda

i was very nervous the first time i drove through tj but didn't have any problems. just speak to someone who has experience or visitor's bureau and get a good map showing how to get south and how to get back to the border.
a little further south from enscenada is a place called la buffadora which is sort of neat to see. a car would allow you to visit there and also make a stop in rosarito beach. be sure to use the toll road - the free road can be brutal.
