Saint-Tropez Boat to St. Tropez in May?
Posted: Mon July 17, 2006 09:18 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm planning to visit St. Tropez in May (around mid to end May). Is there any way to catch a boat or ferry to St. Tropez around this time? All the other posts I read that named places were good but they start no earlier than June 1st. HELP!

Thanks
NL

Both the Nice/ Cannes kick-off trips all start in July, as do the Bateaux St Raphael, which I recommend as preferrable. I can't believe there is nothing before this, but you appear to be right. Its a very seasonable business.

Interested if someone else can come up with an angle.

Hire a private boat? Off season it should be much more reasonable.

. . . a thought.

I was hoping to catch it in Nice since that's where I'm staying, but at this point I don't mind catching the train to a nearby city and finding another way to get there. I've read the posts about horrible the traffic on the roads way which is why I opted to go with the train or the boat.

Thanks for your input.

Breaking the back of the journey from Nice is straightforward - the main "semi-direct" trains out of Nice Gare Ville will take you an hour or so to St Raphael. At that point the train follows the terrain inland to Les Arcs/ Draguinan, which begins to take you away from the Gulf of St Tropez. So its get to St Raphael - I'm pretty sure there are local services to St Trop at this point - local bus I imagine - more homework needed, if anyone else has a solution.

The traffic business is at its worst from early July when half of France jumps in their car and heads south.

(There's always the option of scooter hire - thats how many seem to do it, but its a very long ride!)

Cheers
Andrew

From Nice, you can take a train to St. Raphael and bus from St. Raphael to St. Tropez. Also maybe from June, boat runs too.
