Zeebrugge Sand Sculptures

Hi!

Will the Sand Sculpture Festival take place in Zeebrugge again this year? If so, when? And what's the motto?

I'd love to go again!
Thanx :)

Hi Sabsi,

Yes, they are organizing it again, this year from the 2nd of August till the 7th of September. You can find all info you need on www.zandsculptuur.com and then click your language.

This sounds pretty cool! I missed the sand sculptures in Scheveningen this year. Maybe I'll also visit Zeebrugge during the festival. And how do they preserve the ice sculptures? You would think they melt away in the sun in only a few hours! ;-)

OK but which weeekend would you like to go. The festival takes place all month. I'd say 2nd and 3rd or 9th and 10th. The two weekends after that are meetings in Maastricht and Groningen!

Sabsi and Mahieu are you with us too?

Hi!

In the beginning of August I'll go to the Black Forest for the summer ski jumping so I'll probably go later that month.

Too bad!

Hallo Sabs,

Tschuss,

Paul(chen)

This sandsculptures festival started already and is until 10th of August 2003. So still some time to see it.

By the way, there's also another website of this event:

www.zandkasteel.nl (it offers also the German language)!

If you want to know about more sandsculpture events throughout Europe, then go to:
http://www.globalsand.com/cgi-bin/calendar.pl?month=6

and be amazed, that there are so many people still playing with sand (-:
On this site they - by the way - tell that the Belgian variant is in Blankenberge (so near, but not in Zeebrugge).

When I was in Zeebrugge for the sand festival there was a smaller version of it in Blankenberge... so that's two different festivals!

I don't think there is much to see then. The artists have just started building the sculptures then, since it's the second and third day of construction works....

Didn't know that. The 2 weekends after i have this nephew over. I can do a one-day trip then but probably not a stay-over if you doesn't feel like coming along.

On the other hand, i might be able to persuade someone to come along who knows one of the artists...

Hey sandsculpture lovers, the one in Blankenberge started today, so you can combine the two if you go next weekend...
I saw it on tv last night and remembered your posting !
