Death Valley National Park Driving to Badwater?
Posted: Sun July 16, 2006 09:42 PM UTC
I am staying in Las Vagas for 4 days and was thinking of driving to Badwater for a day trip.
Will a Ford Taurus be OK or will I need a 4wd?

You shouldn't have any problem getting to Badwater with a Taurus. For the best info check www.nps.gov

Yes it's easy to get to Badwater as it's all on paved roads from LV to Death Valley. There are some 4 wheel drive roads in the park but almost all of the main sites are near paved roads.

Roads totally normal, not an issue, only you dealing with the heat is. Summer really not a time to go in my opinion, it would just suck or involve being in the hotel or car mostly. Not a good way to spin 120+ temps, even night is sweltering. Fall or Spring time to go nd very well worth it. Maybe go to Zion instead, water and shade and elevation.
