Are there any organized tours of the notable homes in the area? AND, are any of the homes open to the public for interior tours?
Many thanks,
Mary

i'm not sure if this is what you mean, but i'm pretty sure the aia (american institute of architects) would be able to give you some pointers on some notable homes in the area:

I'm not sure when you will be visiting as you didn't say, so this note may be too late! BUT -
Palm Springs is famous for its mid century modern architecture. Yes there are tours and special events, even a convention. Stop at the visitor center- a very cool modern building by Albert Frey. There are websites- www.PSModCom.com
city of Palm Springs www.ci.palm-springs.ca.us/
Tours- PS modern Tours
and alot of books about the area and architecture.
"Palm Springs Weekend" (different from the movie which I think is lame)
"Palm Springs Modern"
and of course check out my Palm Springs page!
