Anchorage transportation

Is the People Mover bus just going from the airport to downtown (or vice-versa) or is it also stopping at certain places on the way? Is it usually very crowded? I guess it depends on the time.
Do you think it would be convenient to take the People Mover bus from the airport to downtown and a taxi from the bus station to our accomodation some blocks away, rather than taking a taxi from the airport?

Hello. The PeopleMover I took in May did have stops along the way but I did not go downtown but to a mall in the opposite direction. The timing was excellent, the price was right, and convenience was perfect.

The link below has their schedule and stops:

Going downtown there should be more stops but downtown Anchorage does not really require lots of walking from the central spots (probably the Hilton, the visitor center, etc).

I hope that helps.

From what I know of the People Mover here it runs on an hourly schedule which can be inconvienent. It does depend on the time of day as to when it is busy as you said. It does run into to downtown to the main station there on 6th Ave. near G St..
It would be best if you check out their website. It is http://www.muni.org/transit1/bus.cfm

Have a pleasant visit.

Not sure where you're staying downtown. Things a fairly close together and sidewalks are wide and smooth. If you have wheeled luggage you could probably walk. The bus does run about once an hour with multiple stops.
A taxi would run about $14+tip to most places downtown. I'd take the cab myself but then I'm getting cranky in my old age and when I want to get somewhere, I want to get there now!
