Hello all,

Heading to Ladakh in less than a month now, youhou!!!!

I have some questions still and would be so greatful for a couple of answers:

1. I have JetAirways e-tickets, do I need to confirm these, and if so where? I've tried to e-mail their Paris office to get info, but no answer.
2. I'd like to take my digital camera with me. Is this a good idea or is film better? For the digital camera, what are the possibilities of recharging in and out of Leh?
3. I'll be there 3 weeks, what kind of a budget should I have, knowing that I'd like to visit various regions by jeep safari. Also, should I go with cash, traveller's or can I go to ATM with my VISA card (I read in some guide that it was difficult at ATMS in Leh with a VISA)
4. Does anyone know how I can contact Oriental GH in Leh, I've tried to send an e-mail at their new address and no answer, and the booking forms on their site don't seem to work. Any other places you have contact information for? Just want to book our first couple of nights in Leh

Hi Again,

1) No need to re-confirm the tickets. E-Tickets are always confirmed. Just carry the printout and your photo ID (Passport / Photo Credit Card / Driving Licence / etc)

2) Digital Camera is anytime better. You can charge it at your hotel. You'll need to buy a convertor which will change the plug to Indian Pins. The convertor is easily available for under 25 Rupees.

3) The budget in Leh / Ladhakh depends on the type of accomodation you choose. If you are looking for a cheap hotel / guesthouse, expect to pay Rs. 400-800. A mid range hotel will cost over Rs. 1500 per night. 3 Meals: Less than Rs. 200 per day per person. Cost of Jeep Safari depends on the route you prefer to take. But that won't exceed Rs. 1500 per day including the fuel.

All set to go.
1. It will be better to call them up in Delhi once you are here.

2. Charging DigiCams will not be an issue in Leh and neighbouring areas, unless you are planning to do trekking. There will be no electricity on trekking routes.
Nonetheless try and use the viewfinder rather than LCD, and carry 1/2 spare Memory cards. You can visit "eCafe at Fort Road" to finnaly put your images on a CD/DVD or just upload it to your webspace.

3. A nice room with attach bath in a C/D Class Hotel/Guest House will be aound Rs 500-600 per night for a double room. Food will be as per your choice. You can have choice from menu.

The expensive part will be your Jeep Safari. How many are you going together?
a. Day Jeep Safari Fare to Pangong : Rs 6000
b. Day Jeep Safari Fare to Nubra Valley : Rs 7000 (Night stay extra)

Do carry some TC/Dollars.
There are 2 ATMs which will accept VISA/MASTER, but they might be down.

4. Many people seemd to be contacting Oriental GH with no success.
